About Wishpot

What is Wishpot?
Wishpot is a free online service that makes it easy to save all the products you're shopping for in one place while enabling you to discover and share those fabulous finds with friends and family. Great for wedding and baby registries or just making your own wish list!

How does Wishpot work?
Wishpot lets you add products from anywhere on the web with the easy to install Wishpot Button. You can share items and lists with friends and family and they can reserve items for purchase. Once an item on your list is reserved Wishpot re directs whoever is purchasing the item to the site the item was added from or the site with the most competitive price for the transaction.

How does Wishpot get me the lowest price?
Wishpot has teamed up with Shopping.com to offer competitive prices. Click on an item, to the right of the item click on compare prices to see other retailers who offer the same product at reduced prices!


New to Wishpot are Price Alerts- Now, when you add an item to your wish list you can set a price alert. This means that Wishpot will notify you when the item you selected goes on sale or reaches a target price. Click here to see 'how to add a price alert'.

Can I request a contribution on an item?
New to Wishpot is the ability to request a contribution on an item you add to your wish list or registry. Now, when you add an item to your list, Wishpot enables you to request a contribution. To enable contributions click Contributions near the end of the 'add to Wishpot' form. Check the box and enter the paypal email address you'd like contributions made to. You can create honeymoon registries, request charity donations, or ask friends and family to pitch in for a larger item. And Wishpot lets you see who has contributed. So you always know who to thank. Does Wishpot sell products?
No, Wishpot is not a store and we do not sell products. We are a shopping community where users save and share products they find all over the web. The products you see on Wishpot are sold by the merchants. Any questions about products, orders, availability or pricing should be directed to the merchant selling the item. To find the merchant, click the "Buy it" link beside the product.

How can I add friends on Wishpot?
Shopping is more fun with friends. Click on the people tab, click on the profile you'd like to see. Under the person's profile click, 'Add to friends' or invite friends to join Wishpot! On you're my Wishpot page to the left of your screen name, click, 'invite friends'. This will allow you to import addresses or to add individual email addresses.

How can I contact Wishpot?

My Account

How do I change my email address, and password?
To change your email address and password click "Edit Profile/Settings under your profile picture on your My Wishpot page. You'll see links that allow you to change your email address and password.

How do I change my screen name?
To change your screen name, click "Edit Profile/Settings under your profile picture on your My Wishpot page. Under Edit Profile you'll see 'My Basic Info' which will allow you to edit your screen name

How do I add a website to my profile?
To add a website to your profile, click "Edit Profile/Settings under your profile picture on your My Wishpot page. Under Edit Profile you'll see "My Interests" which will allow you to enter a website which will appear on your profile below your screen name.

Can I choose which email notifications (newsletter, weekly update) I want to receive?
To update your notification preferences, click "Edit Profile/Settings" under your profile picture on your My Wishpot page. You'll see a link that allow you to change your 'Notification Preferences'. Select the email notifications you'd like to receive.

How can I add a shipping address?
You can choose different shipping address for different lists. On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, 'settings'. Next to 'basic info' you'll see 'shipping address', click 'shipping address' and add the address you'd like items for that list shipped to. Your address will be visible to all your Wishpot friends and anyone you share the list or list URL with.

Does Wishpot share users' email addresses with anyone else?
We do not share email addresses of Wishpot users with anyone. The only mail you will receive if you register with Wishpot will come directly from us. And you'll be able to opt out of emails from us at any time through a link included on any email we send, or by updating your 'Notification Preferences' under Edit Profile/Settings on your profile page.

How do I cancel my account?
If you wish to cancel your Wishpot account, click "Edit Profile/Settings under your profile picture on your My Wishpot page. You'll see links that allow you to close your account.

Lists

Is there a limit to the number of lists I can have?
There is no limit to the number of lists you can have. You can create a list for every topic, mood or interest. And if you keep your lists public, the Wishpot community can get inspired by your discoveries.

What types of lists can I create?

• Wish List: This list is for items you want. Wish Lists are interactive, allowing Wishpot members or anyone you share your wish list or wish list URL with to reserve items.
• Gift Ideas: This list helps you plan your gift giving for others.
• Shopping List: Use this list to track items you're thinking of getting yourself.
• Pick Lists: Use this list to rate and recommend items to others: fave products, styles or gadgets.
• Wedding Registry: This list is for nearly weds. Wedding Registries are interactive and both members and non members can reserve items
• Baby Registry: This list is for expecting and new parents. Baby Registries are interactive and both members and non members can reserve items.

What are the main differences between list types?
Wish Lists:

• Wishpot members can reserve items or non members who arrive from a shared URL.
• Can set price alerts or contributions on items you add to Wish lists
• Anyone arriving from a shared URL can see a shipping address, can reserve items, and can keep reserves a surprise from the owner of the list.

Wedding and Baby Registries.

• Wishpot members can reserve items or non members who arrive from a shared URL. Non members, only on registries, can reserve items by entering their name and email address.
• You can request contributions on items you add to registries.
• For registries Wishpot will send both you and the individual who reserved the item an email notification. To see who reserved your item go to My Wishpot under your profile picture, click 'Reserved items' there you can see the name and email of who reserved the item and if need be as the owner of the registry you can unreserve the item.
• A shipping address is visible to anyone who arrives from a shared URL or to non members who leave their name and email address. Open your registry and your URL is located under your profile picture. Copy and paste it and share it with friends and family or post it on your site.

Pick List:

• You can rate items you add to this list out of five stars.

How do I know if an item from my registry has been reserved?
Wishpot will send you and the individual who reserved the item an email notification. To see who reserved your item go to My Wishpot under your profile picture, click 'Reserved items' there you can see the name and email of who reserved the item and if need be as the owner of the registry you can un reserve the item.

How do I make a list private?
On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, 'settings'. Under basic info you'll see 'visible to' check 'Private' and click the Save Button. All items in this list will now only be visible to the list owner. You can choose to share a private list or item.

How do I delete a list?
On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, 'Delete'.

How do I change an existing Wishpot list into a different list type such as a Wish List or Pick List?
On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, 'settings'. Under basic info you'll see 'what kind of list is this' check the desired list type and click the Save Button.

How do I change the title of my list?
On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, 'settings'. Under basic info you'll see 'name your list' Enter the title you'd like and click the Save Button.

How can I add a shipping address to my list?
You can choose different shipping address for different lists. On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, 'settings'. Next to 'basic info' you'll see 'shipping address', click 'shipping address' and add the address you'd like items for that list shipped to. Click the Save Button. Your address will be visible to Wishpot friends and anyone you share the list or list URL with.

How can I help readers of my personal blog or website find one or all of my Wishpot lists?
Wishpot has widgets that show off all the items in your list. To create a widget, go to the Wishpot 'Tools' page, click 'Wishpot Widget'. From the first drop down select the list you'd like to create the widget for. Select a size and design. Choose where you'd like to post the widget (my space, facebook, Typepad ect..) Copy and paste the code that is generated on your personal blog or website. Your new Wishpot widget will link your friends back to your list!

How do I share specific Wishpot lists with others?
Open the list you'd like to share. In the top right hand corner, to the left of your screen name click on, 'share/email'. Click add recipient and enter the email addresses of everyone you want to tell about your Wish List (use commas to separate multiple addresses) and or select one of your Wishpot friends. When you click "send" they will receive an email with a link to view your Wish List. Through this link, everyone, including non-members can reserve items off your list!

If I want to share my list with friends, do they have to first sign up for Wishpot?
No. Whenever you share a list with your friends they will be able to view the list even if they are not yet registered for Wishpot. Anyone you share a list with or list URL will be able to view and reserve items from off your list!

How do I share a list URL?
Open the list you'd like to share. Send the URL located under the profile picture on you're My Wishpot page. Anyone you share this link with will be able to see your shipping address and reserve items from your list.

I already have a Wish List on Amazon. Can I import it into Wishpot?
Yes, you can import any public Amazon Wish List into Wishpot. Click on 'Tools' Click, 'Import and Amazon.com wish list. Enter the email address associated with your Amazon account. Click 'Search' All items from your Amazon Wish list will be imported, even those that have been purchased, so you may want to edit your list after it has been imported.

After I create a Wish List, how do I make sure people find it?
Open the list you'd like to share. In the top right hand corner, to the left of your screen name click on, 'share/email'. Is there a way to keep the reserved items on my Wish list a surprise?
Yes. A Wishpot friend or anyone arriving from a shared URL on a Wish list has the option of choosing to keep the reserve a surprise from the owner of the Wish list. Those reserved items are visible to everyone but the owner of the list. So if you want your reserves to be a surprise be sure to tell your friends and family. This feature is only available on Wish lists.

I am seeing reserved sign in. What does this mean?
Only members of the site or individuals arriving from a shared URL on lists can see or reserve items. To see reserved items or reserve an item: sign in if you are a member, sign up if you are a visitor, or ask your friend to send you their wish list URL.

Items

How do I add items to a list?
There are several ways you can add items to your lists. On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, "Add items". There are 4 ways you can add items to your Wishpot lists.

Add items from anywhere on the web: The simplest way to add items is to download the Wishpot Button. It is simple to add to the Wishpot Button to your browser and it doesn't contain spyware. Once the Wishpot button is added, just click the Add to Wishpot Button whenever you're on a webpage anywhere on the web that has an item you want to add to a list. If you prefer not to add the browser button, you can manually add a Bookmarklet to your bookmarks or favorites that works just like the Add to Wishpot button.

Add items you see on Wishpot: If you see something you like on Wishpot, click the "Add to Wishpot" link beside the product to add it to one of your lists. In this same way you can add items you find through our search bar.

Add items via your mobile phone: You can add items to your list using your mobile phone by sending an email to Wishpot. When you send an e-mail the subject of the message is the wish title, the body of the message becomes the notes, and the attached picture becomes the wish graphic. Enter a secret word and Wishpot will generate a new private email address.

Manually add a new item: Click "Add an item manually"; Select the list you'd like to add the new item to, fill in the form and click 'Add'. This new item is great for customizing wishes; request your favorite homemade dish, funds, or even a hug!

How do I move an item to a different list?
Open the list that contains the item you want to move or edit. To the right of the item, click on 'edit/move'. Select the list you'd like to move the item to. You can also edit the title, tags, notes or privacy setting of the item. Click Save. The item will appear in the new list.

How do I edit the title or privacy settings of an item on my list?
Open the list that contains the item you want to edit. To the right of the item, click on 'edit/move'. Edit the title, tags, notes or privacy setting of the item. Click Save. The item will appear with your changes.

How do I delete an item on my list?
Open the list that contains the item you want to delete. To the right of the item, click on 'delete'. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete this item. Click 'Ok'. The item is now deleted.

How do I create an item on my list using my own words and picture?
On your My Wishpot page, next to the list graphic click, 'Add items'. Click on Add items via your mobile phone- You can add items to your list using your mobile phone by sending an email to Wishpot. When you send an e-mail the subject of the message is the wish title, the body of the message becomes the notes, and the attached picture becomes the wish graphic. Enter a secret word and Wishpot will generate a new private email address. You can also choose to manually add an item but without a picture.

How do I rate an item I see on a list?
Open the list that contains the item you want to rate. To the right of the item, click on 'rate this item'. Click 1 to 5 stars. Click Save.

How do I add an item from interesting lists or items I find on Wishpot?
Add items you see on Wishpot - If you see something you like on Wishpot, click the "Add to Wishpot" link beside the product to add it to one of your lists.

How can I find the Wish List or Registry of someone I know?
Click on the 'People' tab and enter the name/email of the individual you are searching for. If you are searching for a registry go to the Wishpot Wedding or Baby page- on the right hand side enter the first and last name of one of the individuals who created the registry. You will see that individual's Wishpot profile and all of their public lists.

When I reserve a gift from someone's Wish List, can other people see who reserved it?
No, the list owner and other gift shoppers will not see who has reserved an item, only that the gift has been reserved. The individual who reserves the item can also choose to keep it a surprise for the owner of the list. In other words the item will appear reserved to everyone else except the list owner.

When I reserve an item off a registry, can other people see who reserved it?
No, other gift shoppers will not see who has reserved the item, only that the gift has been reserved. The owner of the registry will be notified when an item from their registry has been reserved. And the owner of the registry will be able to view who has reserved what.

If I am not a registered Wishpot user, can I unreserve a gift that I had previously reserved?
Yes, anyone who reserves an item receives a confirmation email- there is a link in this email-return to the site through that link and you can unreserve the item.

Who should I contact about a discrepancy in the price of an item?
Wishpot does not sell items and prices are reported to us by the merchants' website. If you see a price discrepancy please contact the merchant selling the item.

Can I manually edit the price of an item?
Wishpot tracks the price of an item for you. If an item on your Wish list drops in price you will receive an email notification or a price alert. For some smaller stores you can manually edit the price by clicking edit/move to the right of the item.

How do I add the Wishpot Button?
Go to the 'Tools' page and click, "Add to Wishpot Button", Click Download or if you prefer to add the Button as a link in your Links folder click "Manual Steps"
Can I remove the Wishpot Button from my browser?
Yes. It's very simple to remove the Wishpot Button.

For Internet Explorer:

• From the Tools menu at the top of your IE browser, select "Manage Add-ons" then "Enable or Disable Add-ons"
• Select "Wishpot Toolbar" and in the Settings area below select "Disable"
• Click OK.
• Close and restart IE.
• If you still want to add items to Wishpot, you can add a simple link to your Favorites that you can click to add products instead of using the button.

For Firefox:

• From the Tools menu at the top of your Firefox browser, select "Add-ons"
• From the menu select "Wishpot" and click "Disable" to temporarily remove this feature or "Uninstall" if you wish to permanently remove it.
• Close the pop-up window.
• Close and restart Firefox.
• If you still want to add items to Wishpot, you can add a simple link to your Bookmarks that you can click to add products click instead of using the buttons.

Contributions

What are the fees associated with contributions?
Wishpot does not charge any fees for this service, but PayPal might. We recommend reviewing the PayPal fee schedule to get an idea of the fees. We have reviewed several providers and found PayPal to be the cheapest option.

What should I do if I am getting an error from Paypal? Merchant requires secure button
On your side, could you change you paypal account to accept regular payments. To Turn Off the PayPal Encrypted Website Payments Feature
1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click Profile.
3. From the Selling Preferences column, click Website Payment Preferences.
4. In the Encrypted Website Payments section, select Off.
5. Click Save.
